2) Concan
Concan is a popular summer destination. It’s near the Frio River and Garner State Park and is the perfect spot for people who want to spend their summer days outdoors. Rafting, tubing, kayaking, and fishing are popular activities on the river. Horseback riding and bird watching draw the nature enthusiasts, while an 18-hole course entertains the golfers. Neal’s Lodges is one of the most popular places to stay because it is right on the river and offers cabins, condos, camping, and RV hookups. Guests have access to an 83-foot water slide into the river, and the resort organizes floating and hunting trips. Neal’s also operates Joe Jimmy’s, a family-friendly venue with live music, dancing, arcades, basketball, and even a bar, thanks to a special permit in a dry county. Concan is the site of the second largest bat population in the world, and visitors can sign up for bat tours.
