6) Tofino, British Columbia
Vancouver Island, Canada’s west coast paradise, has a lot going for it. But none of which are as captivating as little Tofino. With wide, sprawling sandy beaches, endless ocean views of an island-dotted coast, and a swell surfers love – Tofino is a laid-back town that hasn’t let its stellar reputation go to its head. Located in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Tofino residents place great emphasis on preserving the natural beauty of their special town. Most people who visit Tofino are outdoorsy, adventurous, and conservation types. There’s plenty to keep these types of folks interested with beach cruising, mountain biking, kayaking, surfing, and exploring. There’s even the chance for scenic flights over the area and amazing storm watching during the winter months. Tofino is also exceptional for hiking. Check out the National Park’s Lone Cone and the Wild Side Heritage Trails for easy to moderate trails.
