7) Corpus Christi
About midway between Galveston and South Padre Island is another one of Texas’ famous coastal cities. Also situated on the Gulf Coast, Texas heritage collides with beach culture at Corpus Christi. In this city, visitors can ride horses on the beach or visit one of the multiple museums documenting the city’s rich history. Corpus Christi is also a great place for a family vacation thanks to the State Aquarium, Botanical Gardens, and Whataburger Field – home of the minor league baseball team. Nature lovers will also love Corpus Christi because of its proximity to the Padre Island National Seashore. This 70-mile protected strip of undeveloped oceanfront, prairies, and dunes is a unique place to explore. Visitors can enjoy bird watching, camping, kayaking, and even watch baby turtles being released back into the ocean!
