5) San Gregorio State Beach
San Gregorio is known as one of the best beaches California has to offer. It is wide and sandy, and has an estuary with small animals inhabiting it. There are also grassy bluffs with a popular picnic area. The San Gregorio Creek flows through the beach as well. Beyond the main area of the beach itself, you can walk along the sandstone cliffs to the south all the way to Pomponio State Beach. Alternatively, you can walk north to look at the caves and fossil formations in the cliffs. Additionally, you can go up La Honda Road to the San Gregorio community and visit the general store. There is also live music to listen to in the community during the weekends.
