34) NORTH DAKOTA
For fans of the middle-ages, old taverns, and castles, head to The Enchanted Castle in Regent, North Dakota, just west of Bismarck. As you drive along highway 21, a.k.a. the Enchanted Highway, on the way to the Enchanted Castle, you’ll see giant metal sculptures created by former school principal Gary Greff. Complete with a drawbridge to welcome you, the Enchanted Castle will take you back in time without leaving luxury and modern conveniences behind. A standard suite comes with two queen beds and a hot tub to relax in. After a day of exploring nearby attractions, you can hang up your armor and fill your belly at the Excalibur Steakhouse. Then enjoy a tankard of ale in the medieval themed tavern complete with suits of armor. The large beam construction and stone work will make you feel like one of the knights of the round table!
