Sometimes the best travel destinations to go and visit are the least well known. Take, for example, the state of New York. Sure, it is famous throughout the world for its eponymous city. You’d be surprised at how many other wonderful, out of the way places there are to see, however.

Here is a list of 9 ‘secret locations’ that will offer you a wide variety of exciting and interesting things to do. From high end shopping, to hiking and interactive museums, these relatively unknown travel spots have everything you want, and more. You’ll find you can have a wonderful time, without the irritations of traffic congestion, overpriced parking lots, and overly long waiting lines.

1) The Empire Brewing Company

Located in Syracuse, this is a great spot for good food, music and a range of award-winning, locally produced beers. Referring to themselves as a brewpub, the brewers pride themselves on using only the freshest local ingredients in their food; and you can savor a delicious Sunday brunch to the sounds of local musicians. Of course, there is an amazing range of different hand-crafted beers, and you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting what you want to drink. This list really does go on and on, but there are a few that stand out: there’s Black Magic Stout, which won the World Beer Cup Gold Award and the multiple award winning, Skinny Atlas Kolsch, named after Skaneateles Lake from which the water for the beer comes. The Empire Brewing Company is a delightful place to enjoy friends, food, music and a great glass of beer.
