6) A Cockpit Tour
While this next free thing is not as common as it once used to be, it is still a possibility on your next flight. Some airlines allow the pilots to show passengers around the cockpit. Typically, it is geared more towards children and families. On occasion, nervous passengers have been able to talk to the crew and see the cockpit. Seeing the cockpit of a plane is a unique experience that will leave a lasting impression in any person’s mind. Although security has become tighter since tragedies like 9/11, it cannot hurt to ask your crew if you can take a tour of the cockpit. These cockpit tours tend to take place after the flight has landed, as that is the safest time. Don’t be surprised if the crew says no, especially if your flight has been delayed for any reason.
