8) Maggie Valley
There’s something for everyone in this out of the way valley located at the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It features a range of attractions and with a population of less than 2,000, it never gets too crowded. Wheels Through Time has a collection of over 200 different rare automobiles, including motorbikes and cars – a perfect place for the car lover of the family. Soco Falls is an amazing natural location just off the highway, which you will come across after a scenic drive through the mountains. The falls border on the Cherokee Reservation and have a lot of heritage. The spot has a viewing deck, but be warned that the track to get there is at times slippery. If you’re in Maggie Valley in winter, do not miss the Cataloochee Ski Area, which caters to skiers of all capabilities with a lot of friendly and helpful staff and 18 different slopes.
