2) Serendipity House (from Nights in Rodanthe)

On Hatteras Island, a beautiful beachside location has some Hollywood history. Featured in ‘Nights in Rodanthe’, the movie starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane and based on a book by Nicholas Sparks, this house (titled the Serendipity House in the film) had nearly fallen into disarray as sand erosion and rising water threatened to ruin it. Luckily the house was saved from falling into the water and moved to a nearby, safer beachfront location by a kind couple – and now you can stay in it! Renamed the Inn at Rodanthe, this six bedroom rental has been decorated, inside and out, to make you feel just like you are in the film. The owners have even gone as far as to track down the same kind of vintage wallpaper that decorated the walls in the film. For an authentic experience that will make you feel as though you are immersed in a romance novel with a quaint town and the quiet seaside, this house can take up to 12 people at one time for a truly magical experience.
