4) Milford
Milford’s a small community with a population of just 6,000. However, its small population is served well by the four public schools present here. Eighty-nine percent of the residents of Milford are high school graduates, whereas more than a third of its adults possess a degree (quite impressive for such a small town). The cost of living in Milford is six percent lower than the national average, while the cost of housing is 13 percent lower than the national average. Adding to its idyllic image is the town’s low crime rate of 81 percent, which makes it safer than 92 percent of other cities in the country. The median household income here is 35 percent higher than Michigan’s. The only thing some people don’t like about Milford is the temperature, which averages 69 degrees during the summer. However, there are people who love Milford even more because of the temperature. All in all, it’s a prosperous town with very few grisly problems associated with poverty, unemployment and high crime rate.
