Many people felt that Washington, DC residents are a bit surly, and people also felt that things moved too slowly in this city. Still, Washington, DC has tons to offer visitors, and the city is full of free things to do. If you’re interested in politics, take a tour of the Capitol building. The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center offers tours of the building’s rotunda, the National Statuary Hall, and the Crypt. Tours do fill up fast, so be sure to book your ticket in advance. If you’re a US citizen, you can also book a tour through your Congressional Representative or Senator. If you’d rather avoid politics, there’s still plenty for you to do in DC. Spend your time in the Smithsonian museums, or wander around the beautiful tidal basin. Even if Washington has an unfriendly reputation, it still has plenty to offer visitors.
