6) Las Vegas, NV

Sin City residents didn’t win over Travel + Leisure readers. Still, even if you don’t connect with too many Las Vegas residents, you can still have a great trip. The city of Las Vegas is full of things to do. For gamblers, check out a few different casinos, and try your luck at a variety of slot machines and card tables. Not into gambling? Check out some of the hotels’ pools—many offer reasonably priced day passes. If it’s your first time in Las Vegas, be aware that casinos are farther apart than they may appear. Take trams between casinos if they’re available, or hop into a taxi or an Uber. If you do decide to walk, be sure to always wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water—the dry desert air dehydrates you quickly.
