10) Providence, RI
Travel + Leisure readers were unimpressed overall with Providence. However, if they revisit Providence now, they may change their minds. The city’s downtown area is being revitalized, and there are many new shops and restaurants in the area. The US’s oldest indoor mall, the Arcade on Westminster Street, has been refurbished, and it is now mixed-use residential and commercial building with tons of shops. There are also many cultural sites in Providence, including the RISD Museum. This art museum has an eclectic mix of ancient and modern exhibits that are all fascinating. You can also catch a show at the Trinity Repertory Company, one of the best-known regional theaters in the country. The city is also home to high-end restaurants that typically have a lower price-point than Boston. There’s lots to love about this New England city.
