Located in northern Italy, Venice is a city that floats. Built on more than 100 islands located in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea, Venice’s beautiful crumbling stone buildings seem to rise straight up out of the sea. There are only two ways to get around the city of Venice: on the water, enjoying lazy gondola rides along the narrow maze of canals or on land, by negotiating a labyrinth of 350 bridges.
With no cars, roads or ugly high-rise buildings, Venice is the perfect place to escape the stresses of modern life. Head your gondola in the direction of Burano Island for a splash of color or towards Saint Peter’s Basilica to experience the opulence of the past. Finish your ride at the Bridge of Sighs and say ‘ti amo’ (I love you).
