9) Tofino, British Columbia
Tofino is popular beach destination on Vancouver Island. It is a major summer destination, but is open year round, boasting excellent storm watching in the winter. It also has lodging for every budget, from resorts to guest houses and camping. Budget travelers will enjoy miles of beaches, bird-watching, and hiking trails. Those with a little more to spend can go kayaking, take a day trip to Hot Springs Cove, or take a whale-watching tour. The most popular beaches include residential Chesterman Beach and Long Beach, located within Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, as well as Cox Bay, which draws avid surfers. MacKenzie Beach is quieter and home to several camping spots and RV parks. Food options include everything from fine dining to take out and coffee shops. There are also daily flights to and from Vancouver.
