Montreal is very popular in the summer due to warm temperatures and multiple festivals. Spring and fall offer lower prices and rooms are easier to come by. It’s also a very walkable city which will cut down transportation costs, along with the public transportation system. Some of the most popular tourist sites are even free — explore the old town of Vieux-Montreal, the Italian Renaissance-style basilica St. Joseph’s Oratory, and Parc Du Mont-Royal. Visitors can also search for the beloved street art produced by the annual MURAL Festival and stroll through the sculpture garden along the St. Lawrence River. Many of the museums have free exhibits or specified days with free admission. The Centre Canadien d’Architecture is always free, and the Musee des Beaux-Arts is also free to visitors under 30 years old. The last Sunday of the month is free for everyone.
