10) Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland

The mountains and rock formations of oceanic crust and mantle rock of Gros Morne National Park draw hikers to the extensive trails in the park. Park admission is free here through 2017 in honor of the park system’s 150th anniversary. The plethora of camping options makes this another budget friendly option. None of the campsites have electrical hookups, but all have flush toilets. Some have shower facilities. The most basic site is open year round. The park also offers oTENTiks — part cabin, part tent with a raised floor and bed. Private motel, hostel, and B&B options are also available near the park. Newfoundland is accessible by daily flight from several mainland cities and ferry service if coming by car. The primary season is May – October, but limited facilities are open year round.
