2) Use a Different Airport
Which airport you choose to fly from and to will obviously affect the cost of your ticket. The flight is almost always the biggest expenditure of any trip so getting the best possible deal can cut the cost of your trip in half. It may be worth departing from a regional airport that is farther from your home than a major airport or even taking a domestic flight or train journey to a departing airport in a different part of the country to get a good deal. You should also be flexible about the airport you arrive at. Flying in to an airport that’s in a less populated part of the country can cut ticket prices dramatically and it may only take a cheap and picturesque train journey to get where you ultimately want to be. You might even consider flying to a completely different country for a cheap plane ticket. For example, instead of flying direct from London to Hong Kong you might consider flying from London to Kuala Lumpur then Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong. Even with the added cost of a night in the airport hotel in Kuala Lumpur, you could save a few hundred dollars.
