8) Renting a Car
If you’re intending to rent a car once you arrive at your travel destination, it’s worth doing a bit of research beforehand. Many countries ask that you have a valid international driver’s license in order to rent a car abroad, so make sure you organize this in your country of residence before your trip. Take note that the rules may have changed in the country you’re traveling to since the last time you visited and now your age may play a part too. Some countries restrict car rentals to people under a certain age. Insurance companies usually set the upper age limit for car rentals at 70 or 75, but different rental companies are sadly within their rights to deny car rental to you if they deem you too old to drive. Do your research beforehand as there are certain rental car companies who will happily rent you a car no matter how old you are, particularly the big, well-established rental car brands.
