7) Saratoga
This city is regarded as one of the most educated places in the country by Forbes magazine; and given many of its residents work in Silicon Valley, this is perhaps not that surprising. Located in Santa Clara County and just west of San Jose, Saratoga has a population hovering around 30,000. The average household income exceeds $230,000, making it one of the most prosperous places to live in the country. The city has wonderful amenities that include several outstanding, local wineries. Most of the businesses are privately owned, which helps to create a friendly, small town atmosphere. Saratoga has an exceptional school system, as well as having a low crime rate; so, it is a great place for young families. With its clement weather, beautifully designed neighborhoods and leafy, tree-filled avenues, Saratoga understandably ranks as one of the best places to live in California. It will be expensive, but well worth every penny.
