7) Park Ridge City
Park Ridge is a small town and suburb of Chicago and at first look there isn’t much to set Park Ridge apart from other towns of its ilk dotted all around the fringes of Chicago. Park Ridge was once known as Pennyville in honour of George Penny, a local businessman who helped to create the area’s main manufacturing industry, brick-making. Park Ridge lies on a ridge and the soil beneath Park Ridge resident’s feet is rich in clay, making it perfect for brick-making. The crime rate in Park Ridge is low, the education system’s accolades are many and the housing market is stable. What really sets Park Ridge apart is its impressive alumni that includes First Lady Hilary Clinton and actor Harrison Ford to name but two. Both of these significant Americans studied at Maine East High School and may have visited the city’s main landmarks, the stunning art deco Pickwick Theatre and the Park Ridge Public Library.
