Phoenix, Arizona is responsible for most of the state’s tourist activity and contains a population of over 1.5 million residents. Phoenix is also the capital of Arizona and is ranked in sixth place among the most populous cities within the United States. Its entire metropolitan encompasses cities including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe, Peoria, Surprise, Avondale, Goodyear, and many more to give the entire metro population a total of over 4.5 million residents. The city was incorporated in 1881 and has since developed an exciting cityscape featuring a towering downtown area adjacent to Camelback Mountain. With a typical desert climate, Phoenix is known for its dry and hot temperatures as well as desert palms, cacti, and a variety of insects and reptiles. While Phoenix is anything but quiet, it is a great city for young and ambitious folks to dive into art, culture, education, sports, and great food with nearby access to the Tonto National Forest and the Desert Botanical Garden.
