6) Cape Cod, Massachusetts
This tiny New England island has worked its way from an insignificant whaling community to home base for the Kennedy dynasty. Now it is a destination for the world’s wealthy and elite, however, you don’t have to be super rich to enjoy the riches Cape Cod has to offer.
The rolling sand dunes, cliffs and harbors make Cape Cod unique from many beaches on our list but its many seaside features help it fit right in at the same time. You can definitely relax and work on your tan all you want but the real fun on Cape Cod comes from exploring the coast and the water. The lighthouses and biking trails are popular destinations as are the charter boat expeditions and whale watching.
