2) Montauk
Long Island is a great beach destination in the summer, and Montauk, on the southern fork of the island, is no exception. If you visit, be sure to check out the lighthouse at Montauk Point at the end of the island, as well as the various state parks and beach areas along the coast. For example, Ditch Plains beach is great for surfing and also has restaurants where you can get a snack or a meal throughout your day in the sun. Additionally, if you are seeking something a bit more adventurous than sunbathing, you can go parasailing or paragliding near the beaches. If you want the opportunity to go for drinks with some friends or family, you can go to the Montauk Brewing Company to try some local beers. If learning a bit of local history is more up your alley, you can visit the Second House Museum for some interesting information. All in all, there is something for everyone in Montauk during the summer.
